Artisan Color is a tintable waterborne color base for natural pigments and compatible inks. Explore color through movement, coverage, and layers. Create rich, opaque passages, or work over Eco Forma Watercolor Ground for flowing washes and layered color.
Step 3 · Color + Image · Optional
On Eco Forma clay, Artisan Color follows fully dry Dip. Color is optional: when you prefer the clay’s own color, continue directly from dry Dip to Ceramic Coat.
Form + Dry → Dip → Color + Image → Ceramic Coat + Finish
How to use
Stir gently. Mix a small batch with natural pigments or compatible inks. Brush, dip, or layer. Test new mixtures and surfaces first, and let each layer dry fully.
Opaque color
On Eco Forma clay, apply over fully dry Dip. Build coverage in light layers.
Watercolor effects
Use over Eco Forma Watercolor Ground. On Eco Forma clay, apply the ground over fully dry Dip. On canvas and other compatible painting surfaces, no Dip is needed. Brush the ground on in a thin, even coat and allow it to dry overnight before painting with Artisan Color.
Watercolor Ground is a separate surface preparation. Test unfamiliar pigment, ink, surface, and finish combinations on a sample through the complete intended process.
Finish the work
On Eco Forma clay, continue through Step 4: Ceramic Coat. Ceramic Coat completes the velvet matte finish; Gloss Top Coat is optional. Finishing directions for other painting surfaces are separate from the clay-system steps.
Artisan Color is a color layer, not a water resistant finish. Do not coat over loose, powdery, or lifting color.
Storage + cleanup
Keep tightly sealed in a cool, dark place. Protect from freezing and excessive heat. Rinse tools with water. Soften dried residue with water before removing.
Safety
Decorative use only. Do not ingest. Not for food contact or soaking. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Wash hands after use. Follow the pigment or ink manufacturer’s safety directions, including dust control and protective equipment for dry colorants.
