Eco Forma™ Dip — Ready to Use
What it is
Dip is the refinement and preparation stage of the Eco Forma System: Form → Dip → Image / Color → Ceramic Coat → Finish.
New to Eco Forma? Begin with the Starter Kit.
Made to refine and reinforce the surface
Used after the clay is fully dry, Dip helps move Eco Forma work from formed clay into a more cohesive, workable surface. It reduces powdering, supports delicate edges, and prepares a receptive ground for trimming, smoothing, color, image, Ceramic Coat, and the stages that follow.
What it does
- Reinforces and refines the fully dry clay surface
- Supports smoothing, trimming, edge correction, and cleanup
- Helps reduce powdering and fragile drag
- Prepares a receptive ground for pigment, paint, drawing, transfer, and mixed media
- Creates the bridge between Form and Ceramic Coat
How to use, quick flow
Form → Dip → Image / Color → Ceramic Coat → Finish
How to apply
- Begin with Eco Forma clay that is fully dry throughout.
- Stir gently. Do not shake.
- Use Dip as supplied. Do not dilute.
- Apply a thin, even layer by brush or full dip. For flat or thin work, coat both sides when balanced coverage is needed.
- Use only a small amount of water during refinement to lightly reopen the dipped surface.
- Smooth, trim, or correct with a controlled hand, then allow the piece to dry completely before adding image, Ceramic Coat, or finish.
The Eco Forma System
Artisan Clay creates the form and bright mineral ground. Dip reinforces and prepares the fully dry surface without closing it too soon. Image and color develop across that receptive ground. Ceramic Coat builds and unifies the ceramic layer, and Gloss Top Coat completes the piece when added clarity, depth, and gloss are desired.
Best practices
Work only on fully dry clay. Apply Dip in thin, controlled layers; too much product can soften detail or create uneven buildup. Allow the dipped surface to dry completely before continuing. Dip is not a final sealer, waterproofing layer, or substitute for Ceramic Coat and finish.

- Supporting thin edges and detailed pieces
- Smoothing and correcting rims, feet, corners, and transitions
