Flying By — Blue moves through saturated blue and teal, weathered cream, and flashes of coral and ochre. Open areas meet dense, layered passages, while dark linear marks pull the eye across the surface. Atmospheric at first glance, the painting rewards closer looking.

Ships rolled + unstretched. The size selected is the finished artwork size after stretching. Additional printed canvas is included around the artwork for stretching. Stretcher bars, frame, and hanging hardware are not included.

About the Work

Dark lines cross soft passages, and buried marks appear, disappear, and return. The painting holds together as a broad atmosphere from a distance, then opens into smaller discoveries up close.

Complex Harmony

Shirley calls this complex harmony: difference, history, interruption, and beauty coexisting without becoming the same. Layers of color, marks, and revision leave some passages visible and partially bury others; what survives remains part of the story.

Color

Every effort is made to represent the artwork accurately. Screens, ambient light, wall color, and time of day can make the finished canvas appear slightly different.

Each canvas is printed and prepared to order in Shirley’s Colorado studio. Current production time is 2–3 business days before shipment.

The canvas ships rolled and unstretched, carefully protected and with tracking. Shipping rates and carrier options depend on size and destination.
